Southport has been under a white blanket, like the rest of the country, since 5th January. Main roads like Lord Street, the Coast Road and Norwood Avenue have been clear. But other heavily trafficed routes, like Hesketh Drive, though passable remain covered in snow and ice.

Man pulled from Docks (0)

The body of a Southport man, who had been missing for almost two weeks, was pulled from the docks by police divers at Seaforth last Friday. A passer-by described events as a tragic accident. The man’s relatives have been informed.
Air Show Roads Chaos (0)

Last weekend’s Air Show saw cars parking on the Coast Road when traffic to the car parks ground to a halt. The Coast Road itself then had to be closed and was still closed at 7pm long after the Air Show finished.

24 Hour Yacht Race Winners (0)

South Staffordshire took a clean sweep of the top two placing in the 43rd Twenty Four Hour Yacht Race on the Marine Lake.
Out of the 75 teams a Staffordshire GP14 came first, followed by another Staffordshire Lark Boat. In third place was an Enterprise from the West Lancs club.
